Having grown up in the islands, I have always been attracted to intense light and color. As a young adult in New York City, I worked at the Cloisters Museum. Being surrounded by medieval art every day helped me understand that there can be complexity in seemingly simple designs.

In my work today, the patterns and colors of hand-dyed fabrics remind me both of island life and city life and inspire me to create images that are whimsical and meaningful to me.
