I have always had the desire to make things, and have tried my hand at just about every medium, searching for the best fit. It wasn’t until I moved to Seattle in the 80’s that I discovered the world of stained-glass and that was it.
Twenty years, and a sea of accumulated glass scrap later, it dawned on me that it would be fun to make use of that beautiful scrap ….so I began experimenting with mosaic techniques. It was wonderfully liberating.
Increasingly, I am drawn toward assemblage art. Combining glass with found objects seems to create an interesting result. Each project begins with a germ of an idea- from there the glass has a way of steering me into directions I may not have anticipated. The element of surprise/discovery is my favorite part of the process. The anticipation of a result that reveals itself a little bit every day keeps me coming back for more.
