Guest Artist Application

Thank you for your interest our 3D Guest Artist opportunity in the gallery. Applications are due no later than September 13th, 2026.

Hillsborough Gallery of Arts is an established fine art and craft gallery with an excellent sales record. This year we are inviting one 3D Guest Artist to display work from mid-November til mid-January, with the artist receiving 60% of sales. There are no additional fees or work commitments associated with this opportunity. HGA defines a 3D artist as someone who makes work to display on pedestals (glass, ceramics, sculpture, etc).

The Guest Artist will supply approximately 25-35 pieces (this number will vary depending on size of artwork) PLUS holiday ornaments, if desired, and be able to replace inventory as it sells. Please note we do not have unlimited storage space for extra inventory, so visits to the gallery to restock will likely be necessary. The Artist must be willing to fill out an excel spreadsheet detailing titles, materials, price, and quantity for all items sold at the gallery, plus an artist statement/bio and photo for display. Items must be priced at $35 or higher, with an exception made for holiday ornaments.

We cannot accept jewelers for this position, though we encourage you to apply to for membership! Our gallery does not accept commercially produced merchandise, works produced from patterns or kits, or items cast from commercially-manufactured molds.

Selection Process

We will conduct an in-person interview in September with you and our Membership Chair and Aesthetic Committee based on our initial jury. At that time you can ask questions and bring in recent representative work.

All applicants will be notified of jury results. It is the policy of the Gallery to refrain from explanations of jury decisions. Critiques of submitted work will not be given.
