Adrienne Knowles
I have made art for as long as I can remember. The process of creative discovery has always called to me. I rarely strive for a realistic representation in my art and often start with just a color, some texture, a brush stroke, a strip of painted paper, then add and subtract intuitively until I discover the path the painting wants to follow. I enjoy painting with acrylics and with cold wax medium and oils including oil pigment sticks. For my mixed media paintings, I most often use acrylic and dry mediums, often with collage elements. Memories of personal experiences and dreams, and the human figures and places that fill them, continually inspire me to create something new. For the last several years, I have focused on non-representational abstraction and imagined landscapes. Creating a unique and authentic visual expression is what excites me the most.
